Cormorants in shrimp farming…

Came across this today. Interesting perhaps to test in shrimp farms.

1983 had guards with shotguns walking around farm. Price was X per cormorant. After paying head is cut off – to make sure not recycled! Guts can hold nicely layer packs of whole shrimp. Cormorants eaten by some locals. Personally found not nice meat – although at a pinch the shrimp….

Then we also setup automatic shotgun firing to scare off from ponds. Certain time of year flocks could land and decimate a crop.

Tried differing acoustic sounds also. Setup wind operated “scare crows” in the ponds and even tried fishing line across ponds. Of course nets are most effective. Especially when birds are know disease carriers.
