Yes – the functional properties of carbohydrate ingredients are essential in feed extrusion to manufacture robust, expanded and water-stable pellets……it’s glorified chicken feed but at least chickens ingest all.
If shrimp are able to be fed continuously then robust, expanded and water stable pellet use becomes questionable.
Which THEN brings into the question as to the need of that 50% “filler” in shrimp feed.
Cooked starch is just not natural and therein lies the potential to disrupt the shrimp feed industry and bring down the FCR significantly.
Pellets are just a convenience but become an inconvenience when a shrimp farmers have to deal with all that useless and dangerous waste sludge.
